Polar Aquarium, Dalian, Liaoning
For common travelers, a trip to the polar regions may be unimaginable, yet visitors to the Polar Aquarium can find themselves in a crystal ice-snow world anytime of the year.

The aquarium opened in 2002. Animals from both the south and north polar regions, including polar bears, penguins, polar belugas and sea elephants, can all be seen here. Altogether the aquarium has 11 species of 153 polar animals and it also boasts 3,000 fish. Standing in a 360¡ã channel you can be surrounded by the multitude of fish. A showcase of 300-odd sharks and performances by dolphins deserve high recommendation as well.

In the sea animal section, you can touch fur seals, sea dogs, and sea lions. It is currently the largest polar aquarium in the world.

Shangri-La( Di Qing ) Introduction, Yunnan
It was the British writer James Hilton's novel, The Lost Horizon, some 50 years ago, that brought fame to an unknown and uncontaminated place- Shangri-La - a household name. The novel described in great detail the stunning scenery in the area: the azure sky, the breathtaking beauty and the hospitality of unsophisticated people who welcome weary travelers to their homeland.

In Tibetan, Shangri- La means a place of good fortune and luck. Located in the midst of three rivers; the torrential Jinsha, Langcang and Nujiang, Shangri-La is a sacred scenic region with distinguishing features. Scores of years have witnessed the failure of numerous efforts to seek out and pinpoint the exact location of this dreamland. A few years ago, after years of persistent searching and researching, the government of Yunnan Province finally declared the discovery of Shangri-La and the long lost horizon was recovered in Diqing, this stunning prefecture in Yunnan Province.

Meili Snow Mountain, Shangri-La(Di Qing), Yunnan
It is located in Deqing County dividing Yunnan from Tibet. Legend says that the snow mountain is a god guarding Tibetan Buddhism. There are 13 peaks in Meili Snow Mountain. The main peak Kagebo is a sharp snow mountain with an altitude of 6740 meters. No one has ever reached the highest point of Meili Snow mountain.

Lijiang Introduction, Yunnan
The ancient city of Lijiang is situated in the northwest of Yunnan Province, south of the Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain, and at the upper reaches of the Jinsha River.

Lijiang is incredibly rich in cultural resources, home to the Baisha Frescoes (a national historical relic) and "Naxi Dongjing Music" being living examples of Tang and Song Dynasty art, and also Dongba hieroglyphs, the only existing pictographs in the world.

Dayan Town, the capital of Lijiang, was first built at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. This town is known as "Oriental Venice", or "Suzhou on the Plateau", with water flowing past almost every household, and every home surrounded by picturesque willow trees.

Resources: Lijiang abounds in water resources. The Jinsha River winds its way through this area for 447 km.It is also rich in flora and fauna with over 20 virgin forests, over 800 species of medical plant, almost 3000 species of seed plant, and over 20 species of animal.

The Old Town of Lijiang(Dayan Town), Yunnan
The Old Town of Lijiang, also known as Dayan Town in Lijiangba, was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1997. It was first built in Southern Song Dynasty and in 1253, Kublai (the first emperor of the Yuan Dynasty) was stationed here on his march into the south. In Ming and Qing dynasties, it became much larger.

This ancient town is surrounded by Lion Mountain in the west, and by Elephant and Golden Row Mountains in the north. These mountains in the northwest shelter it from the cold wind. In the southeast, there are fertile fields. The city is favored with plentiful sunlight, an east wind and clear spring water flowing to each family.

The streets are paved with the local stone slabs, not getting muddy in the rainy season and being free of dust in the dry season. Many stone bridges and arches in the city were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
